We held a congregation meeting on December 4 after worship for Matt and Leadership to share and answer questions related to Matt’s announcement of his call to a much larger UCC church. Close to 150 people stayed for the meeting. We heard some emotional sharing as well as people who are eager to get started on our to do list. There is a process we will be introducing in the coming weeks about our upcoming interim period. Of course we hope for it to be as short as possible but we also must do it well. An attitude of “Urgency held with Patience” is the best way to sum-up the needed approach. We are much stronger than 5 years ago and we can capitalize on that in the work we have ahead. As we take care to bring along the whole congregation in this process so let us listen, pray and care for one another. We will be issuing “Transition News” bulletins throughout the interim period.
Agenda Launch the Interim Pastor Search as specified by the bylaws. (First meeting was Dec 6) Engagement in Vision & Strategy discernment. (This is crucial to the eventual search committee pastor profile. (To start in January.) Continue God-filled Dynamic Worship and CE Ministry for our Youth and Children. Create a group to plan and coordinate activities to celebrate our minsitry and Matt’s time with us. Bring in an interim minister, from the search above, soon after March 4. Establish a Senior Pastor Search Committee .
